Git does have an intrinsic complexity that makes it a bit hard to understand, but most of its deeper concepts are unnecessary the first time you’re using it — specially if you’re using it by yourself.

There are other local Git clients that offer more flexibility and depth than Github Desktop. You may want to try SourceTree or GitTower to see if they help your workflow!
