Hey Liz,

I'm a bit torn on this… on one hand, redesigns are a great way to explore design alternatives and go deep in the craft of design.

On the other hand, without the time, business and technical constraints of the original projects, they're a bit pointless — in the sense that they don't provide real-life results. It's design for the sake of design most of the time.

Doing usability-testing on your redesign (and the original version to compare) could give more weight to your project. You could put it in your portfolio, but explain thoroughly why you did the redesign, what objectives you had and what outcomes you expected for it.

But I'd leave it at just one — in the end, real-life work with real-life outcomes matters the most and that's what your portfolio should be focused on.
